Programs
Every student is different. Choose the format that fits how you like to learn on the Northern Beaches, and move between programs as your playing develops.
Private 1:1
Weekly private lessons in guitar, bass, drums, piano, keyboard or voice — taught one-to-one at South Creek Recording Studio on Sydney's Northern Beaches.
Private lessons are the most flexible way to learn at Stairway. Your teacher tailors every session to your level, your goals and the music you want to play, whether you are picking up an instrument for the first time or you have been playing for years and want to sharpen your technique.
Band Program
A group of like-minded players come together each week to rehearse a set over a ten-week term. We pick players who work well together, but people can also come as a group.
We work on timing, dynamics and playing as a cohesive unit as well as furthering the instrumental or vocal skills of each participant. Each session combines focused one-on-one instruction with whole-band rehearsal.
For those bands who are keen, we also work on an original song. The term finishes with a live performance recorded inside the studio, and every student gets a copy of the recording to take home and share.
Adult Lessons
Stairway Music is for the child who is half an adult or the adult who is half a child. Adult evening sessions run weeknights from 8:00 to 9:30pm. Beginners are welcome. So are returners, experienced hobbyists, and anyone who just wants a great room to play in.
We run both individual lessons and band sessions in the evenings, with teachers who get that adults need a different pace, different schedules, and different goals. The vibe is relaxed, you will be learning alongside other grown-ups, and the studio sounds just as good at 9pm as it does at 9am.
Bring your family and friends along to watch the end-of-term performance. Pathways also exist to perform at local venues for the adventurous.
